General Education Requirements in Math

College of Arts & Sciences

The Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) from the College of Arts and Sciences requires that students complete a Mathematics course at the level of MTH 108 or higher. B.A. degree candidates who do not place into one of the courses below, must meet the prerequisite by completing the prerequisite course. Courses that will satisfy the B.A. requirement in Mathematics are:

The Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from the College of Arts and Sciences requires that students complete two semesters for Calculus by completing one of the following sequences of calculus courses:

And by completing a course in either statistics or computing approved by the major.

College of Engineering

The College of Engineering requires all entering freshmen to complete the ALEKS Mathematics Placement in order to be placed in a Mathematics course. Freshmen in the College of Engineering are required to complete the following two courses:

In addition to the two courses above, each major in the COE will have additional MTH courses to complete.

Students with AP or IB credit in Calculus should consult with their Academic Advisor regarding the appropriate Mathematics course.

School of Business

The Bachelor of Business Administration degree (B.B.A.) from the School of Business requires that students complete MAS 110 (Quantitative Applications in Business) and a statistics sequence. The prerequisite for MAS 110 is MTH 107 or an ALEKS score of 76 or higher.

The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree (B.S.B.A.) from the School of Business requires that students complete MTH 161 and MTH 162, along with a statistics sequence and other requirements determined by the major.
